Been a while since we posted, but weather continues to be amazing. Many visitors continue to stop and compliment us on the Inn. On the night of the Super Moon, many people stopped and parked across from the Inn and observed a spectacular moon rising, BIG, BOLD, AND BEAUTIFUL !!

Yet the event which brought guests to Spouter Inn Bed and Breakfast occurred Veterans Day weekend. Erin and I participated in the B&B for Vets Program this year.

"Over the past few years hundreds of B&B’s and inns across the United States and Canada have offered active and retired veterans free lodging for one night on or around Veteran’s Day. This program was started by Kathleen Panek, a West Virginia Innkeeper, and was appropriately named B&Bs for Vets. Once again this year, the Association of Independent Hospitality Professionals (AIHP) will manage, coordinate and publicize the B&Bs for Vets program to honor our hard working military.
The innkeepers participating in the 2016 B&Bs for Vets program will offer a minimum ofone room for one night and totally free. Most innkeepers will give their free rooms away on Thursday, November 10, 2016 so veterans can wake up at a B&B and enjoy Veteran’s Day activities on November 11th.  This year, innkeepers from eleven inns and B&B's throughout Maine participated in the program.

This year, Spouter Inn Bed and Breakfast in Lincolnville Beach, ME participated in the B&B for Vets program. Erin and Don Shirley, who bought the inn on September 1 and then opened the inn on September 9, 2016, offered and filled all 8 of their guests rooms for this year's event. Veterans and Active Military from cities and towns from New Hampshire and Maine enjoyed the three course breakfast offered by their hosts, the amazing views from the Inn overlooking Penobscot Bay at Lincolnville Beach, and the camaraderie among the members of our Armed Forces both past and present. Erin and Don hope that many veterans and active military will continue to take advantage of the B&B for Vets program in the years to come."

Many thanks to those inns across the USA and around the world who participated and opened their doors to retired and active military to enjoy a special night or more. We especially wish to thank our veterans and active members of our armed forces for all they do to preserve the land as free and home of the brave.
